This is an original photograph of a Laughing Gull as he strutted and swayed and flew on Crystal Beach which is just north of Galveston Island, Texas. This particular gull is strictly a coastal bird and is found all along the beaches from Mexico to New England. This bird is often mistaken for the larger Franklin's Gull. If fact the young Franklin's gull is so similar to the Laughing Gull that even experts have difficulty identifying them; however The Franklin's Gull is native to the plains of Canada and is only found on the Texas Gulf Coast during migration.
