Description
My sister, her daughter and I decided we would take a trip with no destination, and since the daughter lived in North Carolina, we decided that would be a good place to start. For two weeks we roamed the highways and byways and backroads of North Carolina, going nowhere, and enjoying all the scenery in between nowhere places....such beautiful country. After driving down one particular backroad it was noted that we had seen no houses in quite some time, or evidence that anyone had lived in this area recently. Then suddenly, right in the curve of that old country road, sat this beautiful, little, white church. There was no one around, and no evidence that anyone had been around in quite some time. What was evident was that many prayers had been offered up in this little wilderness church, the meeting and prayer times were still posted near the door, and I feel sure that if we had stopped and tried to go inside the doors, they would have been unlocked, and we would have felt welcome to kneel and pray.

Linda, what a beautiful and interesting find. I LOVE these kind of trips to "nowhere in mind". Do it when I can. This is a great backroad find and you've captured it's true beauty. F/V

The back lighting and worn paint tell a wonderful story here, Linda, ant that red door .... Completes it!

What a wonderful, old, little country church. I would love to see this captured at twilight. Or even at night. I would imagine one may be able to see the spirits that have been lifted up in this building hovering all around the image.
Linda Cox replied:
Walter, I agree. Wouldn't it be great to visit that little church about twilight time? Could probably hear the creaking of the pews and the whispers of the prayers being offered up. I don't think I could ever find that little church again...wouldn't even know where to start.
