While driving through the area of "not a lot" on the way to Big Bend National Park, we passed through this tiny town of "not a lot"...a small church, a gas station, a few small houses in need of repair, a couple of barns which were missing parts of their structures, and this lonely horse standing behind a fence watching the few cars that passed. She seemed to be saying, "Stop a minute, visit a while, I won't bite." I had to stop and take her picture. While standing and taking her photo, a young boy about 10 years old came over to see what I was doing. I asked him if this was his horse and he told me it wasn't. I asked if he knew the horse's name and he said, "Lucy. I call her Lonely Lucy 'cause she don't have any friends. I talk to her a lot and sometimes give her a carrot, 'cause I don't have any friends either." Wel...
I am a digital photography artist. I love the things I see all around me from the mundane to the phenomenal, and if I can capture one of those things in a moment in time, I am happy. Beauty in this world makes my heart smile. Sadness and ugliness in this world makes my heart cry. If I can show the beauty or the ugliness through a lens, it makes me feel as though I have accomplished something special. Most of my work is photography.
