The photograph of these beautiful trees backlit by the brilliant rising sun was taken at Sylvan Lake in South Dakota. This area is located just at the edge of Custer State Park, and the lake is known as the Jewel of the Black Hills. It is an absolutely beautiful, natural area surrounded by woodlands, granite rock formations and the Black Hills. The sunsets and sunrises here are so colorful and beautiful that they are considered "dramatically romantic." Many weddings are performed here at sunset.

I am a digital photography artist. I love the things I see all around me from the mundane to the phenomenal, and if I can capture one of those things in a moment in time, I am happy. Beauty in this world makes my heart smile. Sadness and ugliness in this world makes my heart cry.
