When traveling to South Dakota, we arrived in an area where there was a multitude of buffalo roaming the plains (and the roads) of a beautiful, wild setting that most of us only see in the movies. This was real. There were hundreds, actually maybe thousands of these beautiful beasts slowly moving from place to place as far as we could see, and dining on the grasses that nature had so graciously provided for them. Some of them preferred the highway which ran through their grazing lands. This particular big boy was in the middle of the road and in no hurry to move on to greener pastures. He seemed to be saying to us, "Just slow down. No need to be in a hurry. As soon as I feel like it, I will move on and let you pass. In the meantime, enjoy the scenery." If you have never seen buffalo in the wild, I would recommend a trip to the Dakotas. It would be a trip worth your while no matter how far away you live.
