Description
This is an original photograph of a beautiful, male House Finch. The photograph has been digitally altered in order to give you a lovely work of art to grace your home or place of business.
This happy little finch was partaking of the bountiful, bird buffet which is set up in the campground of the Ft. Davis State Park which is located in far West Texas. This is just one of the many birds visiting this area on a daily basis.
This photograph was taken in the Davis Mountains area of far West Texas at the site of Fort Davis. Fort Davis is a National Historic Site, a unit of the National Park Service. It was built for the primary purpose of protecting the West Texas frontier from the warring tribes of the Comanche and Apache Indians. This is considered one of the best remaining sites of a frontier fort which was built for the protection of wagon trains, mail coaches and travelers during the American Indian Wars. Soldiers stationed at Ft. Davis patrolled the extremely dangerous San Antonio - El Paso road which was a major route for people and coaches trying to reach the gold fields of California. It is a great site for anyone interested in the history of the American Southwest.
